Social Studies
The history and social studies curriculum helps students acquire a common understanding of World and American history, its political principles, and its systems of government in order to prepare them for responsible participation in our school, in civic life, and in the global community. Students learn world and United States history, geography, economics, and government. Simulations and skits add excitement to the classroom and enrich students’ understanding of political and historical events. Visiting local historic sites, historical societies, and museums such the Cape Ann Museum, allow students to more deeply connect with the curriculum.
Science
Our science program is an inquiry based program which focuses on the scientific method. It emphasizes the process of science, the development of problem-solving skills, and an understanding of the nature of science through a study of life science, physical science, and earth and space science, and engineering. Eastern Point Day School is committed to activity based/hands-on science instruction. The classroom, school grounds, museums, local parks, beaches and marshes are our science laboratories, and visits to local science museums also enrich the curriculum.
